The Girls Who Make the Magic (and the Mess)

For seven years, Sam’s been running the show — leading product development, marketing, and the endless stream of new ideas that keep Explicit Essentials growing. She’s the mind behind the labels, the scents, and the unapologetic attitude that built the brand.

Katya’s been making the magic happen for five years. She runs production, keeps the girls on track, and somehow still has energy left for her adorable son, Felix. She’s obsessed with all things weird — which probably explains why she fits in perfectly here.

Colleen’s been part of the chaos for four years, making sure every order gets packed, shipped, and answered with a smile (or at least a well-timed eye roll). When she’s not wrangling boxes, you’ll find her out in nature — hiking, rafting, or chasing the next great view.

Jenn’s been with us for three years, making and packing the stuff that keeps everyone smelling amazing. When she’s not in production mode or wrangling her two kids, she’s happily lost in a tangle of yarn, crocheting, macramé-ing, and creating all kinds of cozy chaos.

Our Story
It started in a basement in Queens, New York, just me, a pile of ingredients, and a label that said “Bitch Relax.”
I didn’t have investors or fancy packaging, just a sense of humor, a glue gun, and the absolute certainty that women deserved better than pastel bath bombs and fake self-care slogans.
What began as a side hustle in a basement quickly became a movement. Orders started rolling in from women who were tired, fed up, and needed something that made them laugh while they took a damn minute for themselves.
A few years (and several mental breakdowns) later, we packed up and headed south to Knoxville, Tennessee — where rent was cheaper, coffee was stronger, and “y’all” became part of the vocabulary.
Now we’ve got our own warehouse, a small but mighty crew of women, and shelves stacked with products that smell incredible and say what we’re all really thinking.
Every single order still gets made, packed, and shipped by hand by real women who care deeply about what they do.
Explicit Essentials has grown every year because of you, the women who keep showing up, laughing through the chaos, and buying gifts for friends who “really need this.”
We’re not a faceless corporation. We’re your girlfriends running a business out of sheer grit and caffeine. And we’re just getting started.
